FAQs – Beat The Boards! Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Board Review
Is Beat The Boards! different from other board reviews?
Yes, in three main ways:
1. Beat The Boards! board review is the most comprehensive option. More than just a Question Bank of practice questions, each course includes in-depth lectures in a familiar classroom setting presented by expert faculty. This means you get a topic-by-topic review of exactly what’s on the board exam in much greater detail than what you can get from QBank answer explanations.
2. Because the physician’s schedule is typically a hectic one, Beat The Boards! is optimized for on-the-go review. Components such as the audio-only lecture option, iOS and Andriod app for mobile review, and offline access capability, and a fully-illustrated board-mapped study guide make Beat The Boards! review easy to incorporate at any point in your daily routine.
3. The Triple Trust Guarantee not only gives you a full tuition* refund if you don’t pass the exam the first time after taking the course, but it also gives you an extra 10% AND allows you continued access until you pass, for free. This unprecedented guarantee serves to assure you of the confidence we have that Beat The Boards! content is exceptional.
*Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.
Who produces Beat The Boards! Courses? Where do you get your faculty?
Beat The Boards! board review courses are produced by American Physician Institute for Advanced Professional Studies, LLC (API). API conducts dozens of courses and trains thousands of psychiatrists each year to pass their boards and stay up to date in their fields. Every single one of American Physician Institute‘s educational courses has full editorial independence, is free of pharmaceutical and industry sponsorship and is backed by an unbeatable guarantee. Because of its reputation for excellence, American Physician Institute is able to enlist many of the top faculty from the best universities, teaching hospitals and research facilities in the country to provide you with Category 1 CME educational activities.
Do you provide board review for other medical specialties?
Yes! In fact, we provide preparation for dozens of other specialty and subspecialty board exams. Check out www.AmericanPhysician.com for the full list.
Is it likely that my employer will cover my tuition?
Because all Beat The Boards! courses are approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, it is likely that your tuition will be reimbursed. You may be surprised at how many residency and fellowship training programs, group practices, and other employers pay for or reimburse you for such Category 1 educational activities. After all, it’s in everyone’s best interests to have you board certified. It really pays to ask your training director, medical director or administrator if you are eligible because some training programs and employers do pay for board exam training. And, if you work for the Federal Government, American Physician Institute is a certified business in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and can accept government checks and credit cards.
Does Beat The Boards! offer any free board review resources?
Yes! Start with our Psychiatry Board Review Blog. There are general articles featuring board prep tips, and articles on board prep that are more board-specific.

Board Exam Results and The Triple Trust Guarantee
Is Beat The Boards! Child & Adolescent Psychiatry review pass-guaranteed?
Yes, all full courses are pass-guaranteed, and backed by our Triple Trust Guarantee. At any time, you can view the Triple Trust Guarantee Terms & Conditions.
What does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover?
If you purchase a course with a “Triple Trust Guarantee” and then do not pass your board exam for which the course was intended, API will issue a 100% refund of your paid tuition*, plus an additional 10%, plus free subscription renewal. The guarantee expires in the event the exam for which this course is designed is no longer offered by the certifying board.
* Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.
The Triple Trust Guarantee sounds too good to be true—is it for real?
Yes, it’s completely real. Rest assured, API has always honored its guarantees and always will. The Triple Trust Guarantee is API’s way of demonstrating that it’s just as invested in your success as you are. After all, if you fail your board exam, API will pay a penalty. API will refund your course tuition in full, provide you with a bonus, and provide free subscription renewal. The guarantee ensures API doesn’t get paid for effort, only for passing results.
Does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover non-tuition course options and upgrades?
No. Course options and upgrades are non-tuition related. Therefore, these fees are not included in any guarantee-related refund payment made under the terms of the Triple Trust Guarantee.
What should I do if I don’t pass my board exam?
First, it’s important to remember that a non-passing result is not necessarily a reflection on your abilities as a psychiatrist. The way the ABPN tests you is not the same as the many ways you’re “tested” as a practicing psychiatrist. Check out this reassuring video from Dr. Jack - What To Do If You Fail Your Board Exam https://www.beattheboards.com/video-what-to-do-fail-your-board-exam/
More to the point, American Physician Institute can work with you to help you get over this professional hurdle. Give us a call!
I didn’t pass my board exam. How do I activate my course guarantee?
To activate your guarantee, you must notify American Physician of your failure to pass your board exam and submit a copy of your exam notification and scores. To be eligible for the refund portion of the guarantee you must submit your documents within 45 days of the date of your exam fail notification. To notify American Physician and submit your documents, go to your course dashboard and click on the "Guarantee" tab. Complete the form and attach your exam notification and scores. You will receive an email confirmation of receipt and someone will contact you shortly. Read What Your Colleagues Are Saying About Beat The Boards! Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Board Review
"This is the fourth time I have taken a Beat the Boards course (twice for general boards and twice for child boards), and I always enjoy it. I like the lectures and feel like it helps reinforce topics I may have forgotten over the years. I always walk out of my board exam knowing I passed. I give credit to Beat the Boards for teaching me things and helping me to feel so confident, that if I do the course, I will absolutely pass my boards."
Ingrid Renberg, MD, Eerie, PA
"Thank God for this course. With running a very busy private practice that has three locations as well as other business, time was something I didn't have but with this course, I was able to take time off work and studied intensively for 10 days. The course materials were so relevant that when I was taking the test, it felt like the review course. I'm so glad I passed (very well above the pass mark too!). I'll recommend this course and all their courses to everyone like me who is looking to ace the test on the first try especially if you don't have the luxury of time. Go American Physician Institute! You guys are the best!!"
Emmanuel Ugwuoke, MD, Glen Hills, PA
"It was a great course for Child Psychiatry board review - Concise and high yield! This was the only resource I used and passed the exam."
Rohail Kumar, MD, Ottawa, ON
"I took the exam for the first time on year 7 after completing a CAP fellowship. I was able to prepare for the exam and pass thanks to your comprehensive course. Thank you!"
Maricarmen Lopez, MD, Bayamon PR
"Beat the Boards is a well-thought out and comprehensive program that really stresses the fundamentals of psychiatry. It provides informative lectures and helpful questions that test your knowledge in preparation for Board Certification."
Nicolas Luzino, DO, New Haven, CT
"I took this class and did all the lectures and questions. This course helped me to remember things I forgot in residency and it helped me to be up-to-date on current information. It taught me to not be anxious in the exam, to realize that the exam should be looked at as a pass only and not on the score and it completed my knowledge of areas where I was weak. Great course and would highly recommend to the determined student."
Mary Nowlin, DO, Phoenix, AZ
"I have used Beat the Boards! for 3 board exams: general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine. Thanks to this program, I passed all 3. I would whole-heartedly recommended this program for several reasons: -The videos are excellent. The authors are engaging and clearly experts in their field. Lectures go beyond just helping to pass an exam; it improved my knowledge and bolstered my competence. -The question banks are numerous, and good preparation for the real thing. A fantastic lecture series with a comprehensive question bank is all the resources you need for your exam preparation! -I like the reminder about days left until the exam. It helps keep the goal in mind."
Ian Peters, DO, Colorado Springs, CO
"I had allowed my C&A certificate to expire hoping to eventually retire. After five years, I changed my mind and decided to sit for recertification. Ordered Dr. Jack’s review course and used it as a guide. Passed my C&A boards with much margin. Highly recommend Dr. Jack’s courses. No regrets…"
Elmer Cupino, MD, Pottstown, PA
“I just wanted to thank you for your excellent Beat The Boards! review course for the child/adolescent psychiatry written board exam. Thanks to your excellent course, I was able to review everything I needed to know and take practice exams from my iPad. Your course greatly decreased my anxiety level and allowed me to pass the exam with relative ease. I have never walked out of a test feeling as confident as I did with this exam. The money for the course was well spent, and worth every penny. Again, thank you so much.”
Scott Bartley, MD, Heath, TX
“Beat the Boards helped me pass both exams with ease; I would not consider taking the boards without Dr. Jack Krasuski's courses and lectures, which more than prepare for the exam, they help me become a better clinician. I really likes the way the course is played out, with videos, printed material and review questions. It is quite manageable and very well explained and an appropriate level. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!.”
Warren DePonti, DO, Lexington, KY
“This course has been very informative and succinct in providing the necessary information to pass part I of the Child & Adult Psychiatry exam. The faculty has varied experience and were helpful in answering questions.”
Mohammad Jefferany, MD, Caro, MI
"The course focuses on what's important for the board exams. This is a very good review course and I would recommend it to all my colleagues who want to pass the Child Psychiatry Board."
Constantine Azarcon, MD, Wilmington, DE
"It was a comprehensive yet concise course tailored to help you pass the CAP Part 1, in a limited period of time."
Sunil Kettur, MD, Plano, TX
“I just completed the online course for my child and adolescent psychiatry part I exam. It was incredibly convenient to be able to participate in this conference from my home office. Not only was I able to manage my time most efficiently, I did not incur the travel costs of attending the live conference. I actually think it was more helpful than attending live, because I could pause the slides and make flash cards or repeat information that I wanted to hear again. Getting the CME credit was also very helpful and the exam taken at the end to receive credit was simple and a repeat of questions that are presented in the lectures (I was nervous about not passing and not getting credit). Thank you for this course!”
Sally Boeve, MD, Tucson, AZ
"This course will not only help me pass the boards but will also enhance my clinical skills. This is my second Dr. Jack's course. It was well run, high energy and informative. Informational and Educational content of the course will not only help me pass the boards but will also enhance my clinical practice! Thanks again!"
Patricia Roy, MD, Skokie, IL
“This is the best course so far. I would say all-time best course. The whole team works hard. It is always enjoyable, from my experience at Part I & II Adult Boards. Courses are always geared to pass exam. “Beat the Boards!” name is justified!"
Jabeen Hayat, MD, Fresno, CA
“I watched most of the videos, review all the question banks twice and read the materials three times. I passed the initial certification test. I did not use anything else to study."
Elsie Bermudez Pounchard, MD, El Paso, TX
"This is the 2nd course I've taken from Dr. Jack and his team. The first one was prep for the General Psychiatry Oral Boards and I breezed through that Exam with flying colors after 3 previous failures. This Child Adolescent Review has been thorough, has a great syllabus, great lecturers and that are friendly! Jack has great colleagues with good characteristics for such a small group. Dr. Jack has a high degree of personal involvement and he also has good humor. Very well-done and worthwhile for 3 days and looking forward even to more resources on the web. Thanks!"
Pamela Hetherington, MD, Branford, CT
